Empowering Women, Youth and Children
Dwaraknath Reddy Ramanarpanam Trust (DRRT), founded by Mr. Dwaraknath Reddy began its work with women, youth and children, initiating different programs and activities enabling communities to determine their own rights and live with dignity and security in sustainable human settlements.
The Trust's path was carved out by responding to the needs of a community in a slum or a village that required interventions by mobilizing and organizing people for action. Such action included education towards transformation, forming cultural empowerment networks with different communities, enabling women with livelihoods based on traditional knowledge and skills, revival of disappearing indigenous community based traditional art forms, resolving land, shelter and infrastructure issues, and training children, women and youth for leadership development.
" With compassion and concern, and a heart filled with love my father has left his footprints on the sands of selfless service. Following those footprints I set out to cross the milestones. He always spoke of wiping the tears of the children and the voiceless women of Bharath.
He believed that every child must have the space and opportunity to give wing to their dreams and motivated me to create opportunities for the poor to do just that. His life has been my teaching and his love for all that’s living my inspiration. I feel blessed that I can see myself as one amongst his 2000 children ready to continue the journey of selfless service."
